Time to check the heart.
How does the old girl feel?
Open? Closed? Tight? At ease?
Loving? Hateful? Sad? Hopeful?
The heart is multifaceted. It can feel and do many things at once.
Let's take a moment and see what she's up to. How she's doing.
Why don't we breathe 5 times, slowly, into the heart. 3 seconds inhale, 3 seconds exhale.
Time to check the heart.
Sometimes the simplest gift you can give someone is to listen.
Sitting quietly. Not checking your phone. And holding the space for them to share.
Not a time to fix. Solve. Or correct.
In a world that runs on solutions and the cult of MORE, listening becomes invaluable.
It's like giving them permission to breathe. From their soul.
I've started incorporating 4 minutes of gratitude into my morning routine. Most of you know how much I fight gratitude but damned if doesn't work.
Why 4 minutes? That all I got in me. For now.
What do I focus on?
Well, I look around and I see my meditation room. How lucky I am to have a whole room dedicated to meditative practices. Then I think about my wife. How lucky I am to have her. I look outside and it's around 6am, the sun is coming up and it's gorgeous. I open to that. And then I think how fortunate I am to have a full head of hai...full head of good brains. Intelligence. My health.
I keep it basic. But if I allow myself to feel into just those few things, it will shift my day drastically. I for one do not want to be at the finish line thinking about my life and how I never truly valued the morning sky...that I may never see again.
Your life in weeks. This is a great idea from the blogger, Tim Urban.
Essentially it is, well, your life in weeks. Approximated of course.
Why do I love this? Because it is like a cold bucket of water being splashed on me while someone is burning my ass with a hot poker. Yes, all of that.
It is a wakeup call. It is a call to action. It is a reality a lot of us don't want to look at. The inconceivable amount of time we have left.
Now, we can take this one of two ways. 1. Freeze and freak out. or 2. Decide to live the life we want to. No excuses. No wasting time. No more bullshitting ourselves.
That is the life calendar for me. I highly suggest you check it out and get that cold bucket of water/hot poker ready.
"Why?" The rabbit hole of questions.
"Why" is very serious business. "Why" is power. "Why" is responsibility. "Why" is not to be trifled with.
Why is "Why" so big?
Because it will give you answers that may shatter your comfort zone. I know for years I didn't ask "Why." I hid behind it. I didn't want to know what I didn't know. It terrified me.
All because I was afraid of looking stupid. Ah well.
But now, I can't stop asking "Why." I want more. It's my right. It's my life. Be damned stupidity.
"Why" is the secret sauce to achieving everything you want in life.
Why? Well, that's for you to find out.
