Dear Baby Me,...

“It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.”

-James Baldwin

Be kind to yourself. You are your most powerful ally. You can make or break your day. You can hold your broken heart. You can forgive yourself. You can laugh at your stupid jokes. You can always have a good cry with yourself. And you can most certainly love yourself unconditionally. So please, for the love of God, just cut yourself a break and be kind

The reason I say this is because we are so often just down right cruel to ourselves. If people could hear our thoughts about ourselves they would probably lock us away for mental abuse: I'm such a cow, I'm ugly, I can't possibly do..., I'm not as good as..., I'm so worthless, I'm so old, I'm just stupid, I can't stay happy! It's so mean. There are so many elements in life that want to keep you down, why join them.

This kind of self-bashing needs to stop ASAP. There is a good way to catch yourself and stop doing it immediately: Imagine saying everything you say about yourself to a little baby (existent or non-existent).  Could you imagine spewing your mental hate on an innocent, pure little baby? I hope not. "Hey Baby, I can't believe you ate that donut or screwed up that interview or you're worthless." Insanity!

Purify that mind of yours. Swaddle it with love. Hold it, feed it beautiful food, love it unconditionally, PROTECT IT FROM EVIL, be your own superhero. Freaking start rooting for yourself. It's not egotistical. In fact, loving the hell out of yourself (true love) will spread to others. It is contagious.

Dear baby Bryce,
I love you so very much. I know you beat yourself up when you make mistakes, but it's ok, you are unconditionally loved. So keep on trying kiddo (Maybe get rid of the baby blanket though).
