Hello everyone! It’s Bridget here, and I will be the guest blogger for the day. This has been a goal of Bryce’s for a long time now, and it feels beyond wonderful to have the love and support of all of you. To be able to open yourself up fully without the fear of judgment is no small feat, yet you make it extremely easy, and for that, thank you.
With that being said, I am going to do a four-part series in an exploration of the Third Eye. The Third Eye is a often described as a mystical or esoteric concept, in which an invisible eye holds intellectual and speculative insight beyond ordinary perception. It is essentially a link, or channel that allows your subconscious to flow directly into your conscious, and vice versa.
The Third Eye is directly related to the 6th chakra (represented by the color purple) — the psychic chakra, located on the middle of the forehead above the brows. It is closely associated with the “pineal” gland. French Philosopher Rene Descartes believed the pineal gland to be “the seat of the soul” where mind and body met.
I read a book last fall, “Proof of Heaven,” which truly captivated me. The book, which Oprah brought to the forefront, details a near death experience of Dr. Eben Alexander, a highly notable neurosurgeon (and a Tarheel by the way..) who spent seven days in a coma. In those seven days he experienced something beyond our human realm, and I was immediately struck by a passage in which his wife, who had been told there was absolutely no hope for her husband, reached out to her close “psychic friend,” Susan Reintjes to see if there was any way she could help, and she did.
Susan Reintjes had written a book entitled “Third Eye Open” which truly resonated with me. Did I mention she lives in Chapel Hill less than a mile from where I lived when I was at school? We will get into synchronicity soon :)
THE QUICK AND DIRTY TASK: Balance the four bodies
Every one of us has the power within us, but over time our four bodies— physical, mental. emotional, and spiritual become over or underloaded, and cloud our daily judgment. We’ve all felt unbalanced at some point.

In order to achieve a much needed balance and wholeness, our four bodies MUST unite. This is the first step into becoming in tune with our Third Eye. Here are examples of what our four bodies accomplish:
THE FOUR BODIES
Physical: exercise, sleep, nutrition, hygiene, nurture.
Mental: study, finances, reading, writing, planning and executing projects.
Emotional: handles all our feelings, including weeping, laughing, grieving, rejoicing, creating, releasing, and loving.
Spiritual: addresses our relationship to a source greater than ourselves and encompasses prayer, nature, dreams, music, art, worship, and fellowship.
Make a list daily, weekly, or even biweekly to check your balance. I have a specific notebook where I notate my four bodies. It is SO helpful when you are feeling off-center and are uncertain how to re-center to go back and visually see your growth.
Here are some ideas for FEEDING your four bodies:
Physical: Take a walk, dance, get a massage, go for a swim, stretch, run outside, practice yoga, get a haircut, eat a good meal, take a nap, clean your closet, get outside, go shopping
Mental: Return a phone call, pay your bills, pay your rent/mortgage/car payment, send an email, send a text, organize your dresser drawers, plan a trip, give to charity, listen to the news, throw out old papers, talk politics, solve a problem, give an opinion
Emotional: Cry at a movie, tell a joke, pet an animal, smile, help a friend, help a stranger, paint a picture, love yourself, love someone else, let go of resentment, cry in the rain, keep a secret, breathe
Spiritual: Meditate, pray, visit a new church, gaze at the stars, read a poem, remember a dream, compliment someone, listen to music, write about your God or universe, sing

This has become one of the most beneficial tools I have used, and has been very proactive in shaping my current life. We of course are human, and get off track, but we must come to terms with the fact that every situation we encounter has the ability to teach us love. Life is a never-ending series of tests, but the only answer is love. Love yourself for making this commitment of discovery.
