The first breath of your home

“It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want—oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”

Mark Twain

There is something about springtime that pours life into every fiber of my being. I love it. Out from the old grey days appears greens, yellows, reds, pinks, and more. Spring ushers in an era of life! LIFE! Be gone wintry poo. You are dead. We no longer need you. And just as that season comes to an end, so must our hibernating souls. With great aches and pains, we begin to stretch, blink our eyes, and see what looks to be the sun for the very first time. We live again!

The same goes for our homes. Just as the environment begins to awaken, so must our homes. Dust the old rugs, paint the dingy walls, scrub the corners of the floor, throw away A LOT. Release the death that covered the home like a blanket to protect you for the winter. Now is about life. It is about growth. It may be painful. It may be slow going. But it is not the time to bloom. It is the time for consistent, unyielding effort. It is growth. We would not yell at a crocus for only showing a sprout in the early spring. We would encourage it. We would nurture it. We would love it.

We are no different. Let the home be that encouraging environment. Let the walls pour life into you as you transition from the hollow winter to a vibrant spring. Let go of your old clothes that no longer feed you with excitement or love. Just as we shed dead skin, so must we do with clothes. We never worry our skin won't grow back. We know it will. So too will your wardrobe. Trust. It's more important to allow the transition to take place.

If art in your home feels dead or numb, replace it. COLORS! EXPLOSIONS! LIFE! It doesn't have to be forever but shock the old energy with this new BOOM and restart the foundation. Your home is your anchor point for every single thing in your existence. Treat it as such and you will be amazed at how it will rocket you out of the funk of winter and into the clarity of spring.  This is the very first breath your home will take this season, make it count.

BOOM!
